Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Cycle

I decided my metabolism needs a jump start! To get things back on track, I embarked on a 2-week journey of diving into some pure food choices. In the Trim Healthy Mama world, this is called a Fuel Cycle because you cycle through the 3 different types of meals. It's much more restrictive than how I usually freestyle through the plan. I chose to eliminate dairy and nuts for these 2 weeks (well, mostly!). Here are my meals to show what this looks like in the real world. Let me know if you have any questions!!

Day 4

E Fuel

I focused on those healthy carbs again today! I can almost hear my thyroid and adrenals saying, “Thank You!!” I was a little hungrier today, so I had a larger afternoon snack. I’m trying to add in 1 okra shake a day. Okra has unbelievable health benefits and has gotten many THMers out of a weight-loss stall. 🎉 Yes, please!!

Breakfast – Berry Creamy Grains (THC 252) with a light coffee.

Here's my coffee creamer.

.

Lunch – Blackened Chicken with Mangos & Black Beans (THC 66) and salad seasoned with Cajun seasoning and vinegar. If you have the Trim Healthy Cookbook, RUN to make this chicken. It is amazing!!

For dessert, I made a small shake with the Cookies & Cream Whey Protein Powder 😍

.

4 O'Clock Snack - Hot Coffee with my creamer and leftover oats from breakfast

.

Dinner – Leftover Chicken Fried Rice from yesterday, a smidge of the Blackened Chicken from today, and salad dressed with vinegar, liquid aminos, and ginger.

.

9 O’Clock SnackMint Chocolate Okra Smoothie

Day 7

Deep S

Oh my word! I cannot tell you how good my breakfast of bacon, eggs, and zukes tasted this morning! I felt like every cell of my body was rejoicing over the good fats.

We had an end of the year celebration for our dancers’ showcase presentation, finishing the school year, etc. We brought in Pizza Hut, Heidi made a cake, Brigitta made caramel corn, and Bryan found Brownie M&Ms (what the heck!?). Except for 2 of those M&Ms (purely for research purposes, of course), I did not cave. And I love Pizza Hut! But it’s part of the reason my pants are tight, so we are on a trial separation right now.

.

Breakfast – 2 Fried Eggs, 2 Strips of Bacon, Sautéed Zucchini (Praise be!!), Bulletproof Coffee

.

Lunch – Leftover Chicken Tacos and Broccoli, Vanilla Custard Shake made with the Cookies and Cream Whey (Bless my socks!)

.

4 O'Clock Snack – My usual iced coffee and Thermogenic Skinny Chocolate (why don’t I make this more?!)

.

Dinner - Fried Tilapia and roasted cauliflower in my air fryer

This fish was soooo yummy! I dipped tilapia in egg then dredged in crushed pork rinds. Cooked 5 minutes at 400, turn cook 2 minutes more.

.

9 O’Clock Snack – More of that delicious thermogenic chocolate!

Day 10

E Fuel

I’m sure I didn’t eat enough today. I worked outside through my afternoon snack. By dinner time, I was ready to eat my left arm! I made a couple family favorites for lunch and dinner which will give me leftovers to get through my E day tomorrow. Keep it simple, keep it sane!!

.

Breakfast – Strawberry Big Bowl Oatmeal (made with strawberries), my Light Coffee

.

Lunch –Ranch Hand Taco Salad (THT 200), apple slices. The dressing does have Greek Yogurt (dairy, which I’m trying to avoid), but its ½ cup spread over 8 or so servings, so I decided the impact would be minimal.

.

Dinner – Cowboy Grub (THC 59), Air-fried Roasted Cauliflower

.

9 O’Clock Snack – Chocolate Cherry Shake (inspired by THT 471) I made a basic Chocolate Frap and added frozen cherries. The original recipe has cottage cheese and I’m cutting out dairy for these 2 weeks.

Day 13

Fuel Pull

My breakfast plans were thwarted from a lack of egg whites, so I went a bit unconventional. Pretty tasty though! The family had pizza for dinner, something I usually join in on. Tonight I decided I would relax my “no dairy, no nuts” rule to make an incredible Fuel-Pull Pizza! See below for the recipe. Tomorrow is the last day of this Fuel Cycle - Back to Deep S!

Breakfast – A sandwich with 2 pieces of Wonderful White Blender Bread (THT 242), extra-lean ham lunchmeat, and leftover salad from dinner last night with strawberries and my light coffee.

.

Lunch – Leftover Trim Train Taco Soup (I froze some from last week), roasted Brussel sprouts from the air fryer, and some of the Glycine Glory I Pudding I made last night (THC 348)

.

4 O'Clock Snack – Light Iced Coffee and a piece of WWBB

.

Dinner – My Light and Luscious Pizza

Crust: I used the Swiss Bread Recipe (THC 196). I spread it in my frying pan and cooked it like a pancake.

Once it was golden on both sides, I spread it with a thin smear of spaghetti sauce, I used about ¼ cup of cottage cheese as my cheese. I sprinkled that with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese. Finally, diced extra-lean lunch meat and spinach on top. Then I stuck it under the broiler until bubbly. So delicious! And I stayed out of the other pizza! Yeah!!

.

9 O’Clock Snack – I didn’t have one because my pizza really filled me up!

Fuel Cycle Day 2

Deep S

My second day of focusing on pure fat sources (no cheese, dairy, or nuts). I was satisfied all day, but I was very tempted to snitch some cheese when my kids made quesadillas!

Breakfast – 2 Fried Eggs, Turkey Bacon (the only kind we had), Sautéed Zucchini and Garlic, Bulletproof Coffee

.

Lunch – Leftover Whoop Whoop Soup (THT 149), Vanilla Custard Shake

.

4 O’Clock Snack – Iced Coffee with my coffee creamer

.

Dinner Lemon Butter Tilapia and Green Bean Fries (THT 262)

.

9 O’Clock SnackDeep S Salted Carmel Shake

Day 5

Fuel Pull

Today I pulled out both carbs and fat. Protein centered meals with lots of veggies. I was dragging by afternoon! I whipped together the Instant Cookie Dough Protein Bar (THT 428). I just ate it from the bowl with a spoon. It was just the little bowl of yum I needed to get through the day with a smile!

.

Breakfast – Egg Whites scrambled with Zucchini, Healing Trimmy Light (THC 430)

.

Lunch – White Blender Bread (THT 242) Sandwich with extra lean Turkey, Lettuce, Dijon Mustard, and 1 tsp. Mayo, Fautato Soup (THC 117) – That’s 12oz of Cauliflower y’all!!!

For dessert, I made a Baby Frap (THC 421)

.

4 O'Clock Snack - Iced Coffee with my creamer and Instant Cookie Dough Protein Bar (THT 428)

.

Dinner – Trim Train Taco Soup and one piece WWBB (THT 242)

.

9 O’Clock Snack – Lime Pie Milk Shake (I just made this up upon request of my husband)

.

Hydration

Lots of my healthy fruit teas

Sweet tea

Sparkling Watermelon Water

Day 8

E Breakfast then Deep S

I learned mid-afternoon that I made a bit of an oops. So come to find out, if you are doing a 2-week fuel cycle, you should have an E dinner on Day 7 (I didn’t do this), and an E breakfast on Day 8 (I did do this). Makes sense to have an E break in the middle of all the Deep S. I think I’ll punt by having an E dinner tomorrow night and pray it all balances out.

.

Breakfast – Chocolate Big Bowl Oatmeal (I call this Chocolate Pudding Oats! Yum!)(THT 354), my Light Coffee

Creamer.

.

Lunch –Fried Egg Salad (along the lines of THT 307), Salted Carmel Coffee Shake

Day 11

E Fuel

Last E day!! I primarily ate leftovers from yesterday. Super convenient, but my taste buds are ready to move on. I did try the Collagen Berry Whip for the first time. Texture is a little different, but it tasted amazing – a light, dairy-free treat! Sure doesn’t photograph well, though. Comment below with what horror movie it brings to mind. Tomorrow I go back into FP – I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

.

Breakfast – Sprouted French Toast (OG Book 239) (I need to make this more. So good and filling!), Microwave Fried Apples, my Light Coffee

.

Lunch – Leftover Ranch Hand Taco Salad (THT 200), Leftover Sweet Potato

.

Dinner – Leftover Cowboy Grub (THC 59), Steamed Broccoli, Collagen Berry Whip (THC 375)

.

9 O’Clock Snack – Chocolate Covered Cherry Shake (inspired by THT 471) I made a basic Chocolate Frap and added frozen cherries. The husband enjoyed it so much last night, he asked for it again!

Day 14

Deep S

🎉🎉🎉 I did it!! I made it!! 14 Days with almost no dairy or nuts. It was both easy and hard. I can tell a bit of a difference, but what I’m really hoping for in an improved metabolism going forward. I’ve learned a lot that I’ll share with you later.

Today I was away at Mom’s most of the day. We kept things super simple. I love to eat out, but we decided to not grab a bite on the way home because my options would be too limited #StayStrong2TheEnd. 🍒🍒 Mom did introduce me to Aha Black Cherry + Coffee Sparkling Water. Amazing! Tasted almost like chocolate-covered cherries. If you see some, grab it!!

.

Breakfast – Two fried eggs in butter with sautéed zucchini and garlic, Bulletproof Coffee

.

Lunch – Hamburger Patty and Steamed Broccoli

.

4 O'Clock Snack – Quite a few pork rinds and some beef biltong

.

Dinner – Scrambled Eggs with Ham and Spinach

.

9 O’Clock Snack – 💚💚 Irish Cow Shake (go make this!!!) I used egg whites, peppermint EO, only 1 Tbl of MCT instead of the coconut oil, and skipped the cottage cheese. (👉As written, it's more of a meal shake and too heavy for a late-night snack) I split mine with my 18yo son because every time he hears the blender, his signature glass mysteriously appears in front of me!

Fuel Cycle Day 3

E Fuel

After almost 3 days without any carbs, my oats this morning tasted soooo good! It’s been very clarifying to me to realize the differences when I first started eating the Trim Healthy Mama way 7 years ago versus now. Starting out I definitely held myself to a higher standard in the purity of my food! It feels good to be more in that place! I don’t have a scale, and I forgot to take measurements before I started. 🙄 So we will have to use the “clothing test” to measure success in 11 days!

Breakfast – Stovetop Crunch Granola (THC 254) and some microwave “fried” apples with a light coffee.

Here's my coffee creamer.

.

Lunch – Chicken breast meat from a grocery rotisserie chicken with some dijon mustard, brown rice, salad dressed with red wine vinegar and seasonings, Thin Mint Fat Stripping Frappe (THC 418 with Peppermint Essential Oil)

.

4 O'Clock Snack - Hot Coffee with my creamer and a handful of the Enlightened Bada Bean Boom (and then I read the ingredients. Whoops!!)

.

Dinner – Chicken Fried Rice (THT 53) and air fried butternut squash

.

9 O’Clock SnackMexican Secret Shake Gone Sexy 😍

.

Hydration

Iced Bengal Spice Tea

Raspberry Lime Sparkling Sparkling Water

Water with Slique Drops

THM Hydrates

Day 6

Fuel Pull

Second day of eating without carbs or fat. Phew! This is where the struggle gets real! The fantasies about food really kicked in! The amazing thing was, I didn’t feel hungry. And when my husband said I looked leaner, it boosted my motivation to stay the course and put in another week!

.

Breakfast – Fuel Pull Pancakes with sugar-free syrup and coffee with my creamer

I forgot to put in the egg whites! That’s what you get when cooking before coffee! They were like crackers. I added a small dollop of Oikos 000 for moisture.

Here's my coffee creamer.

Pancakes

.

Lunch – Salad with chicken breast and leftover egg whites and zucchini drizzled with vinegar and sprinkled with crushed red pepper. Yes, my salad is in a baking dish #NoShame! Plus a bowl of leftover Trim Train Taco Soup.

.

4 O'Clock SnackVanilla Frappe made with coffee ice cubes

.

Dinner Chicken Tacos in lettuce shells and steamed broccoli

.

9 O’Clock Snack – Extra Lean Turkey sandwich on Wonderful White Blender Bread (THT 242) and a glass of Speedy Strawberry Milk (THT 457)

20200525_224959[1].jpg

Day 9

Deep S with E Dinner

Today started with a total breakfast FAIL! I tried a new pancake recipe in my attempt to avoid Baking Blend. Its primary ingredient besides eggs was psyllium husks, and they ended up being the weirdest texture. After chewing the first rubbery bite, I ran and made 3 fried eggs and called it good! The rest of the day was so busy with projects, eating was more of a grab and go situation.

.

Breakfast – 3 Fried Eggs, my light coffee

.

Lunch – Leftover turkey burger patty and Choco Secret Big Boy (THC 415)

.

4 O'Clock Snack - Iced Coffee with my creamer

.

Dinner – Extra Light Ham on Sprouted Bread, Sweet Potato with ½ tsp Coconut Oil, sprinkled with Cinnamon and Super Sweet Blend, for dessert Blackberry Lemonade Smoothie (This was so delicious and refreshing!!)

.

Late Night Snack – ¼ Cup Skillet Granola (THC 255) with Almond milk

20200528_215807[1].jpg

Day 12

Fuel Pull

I was determined to rock this FP day. Last night, I baked the Light Custard from the original book. I boiled over all over my oven. After an hour, it was still a liquid mess. I stuck it in the fridge and hoped for the best. This morning when I took it out, it was a little more solid but had an unappealing “skin.” Tasted great though! I threw the rest in the blender and poured it into a bowl for later.

I also committed to hydration. I drank 2 quarts of Earth Milk and 1.5 quarts of iced oolong before 5pm. Plus some of my fruit tea and sparkling water. Holy bathroom trips, Batman!!.

Breakfast – A bowl of Light Baked Custard (OG Book 218), my light coffee

.

Lunch Trimming Pad Thai and Chocolicious Thin Thick (THC 423)

.

4 O'Clock Snack – The rest of the Light Custard and Iced Coffee with my creamer

.

Dinner – Broiled Tilapia with a large salad. I made the Italian Trimmy Dressing (THT 531) for the first time. Absolutely delicious!! I cut the recipe in half, and it will probably dress 3 big salads.

.

9 O’Clock SnackCake and Pudding (Called Meghan Delight around here after my daughter who created it.) This is a version of a dessert that I have loved for years. I usually use Greek Yogurt, but today I went with the Glycine Glory Pudding (THC 348) to stay dairy-free. I’ve even taken it to potlucks by doubling the cake and adding in sliced strawberries. I split the single-serve cake with the husband and used about 1/5 of the pudding recipe per bowl.

Check out all Sheri’s Fuel Pull cake recipes! They’re amazing!!
