🚰 You’re drinking your water and stevia-sweetened beverages, right? 👍Aiming for around half your body weight in ounces a day? Great! Now don’t sabotage those health-benefits by drinking beverages that spike your blood sugar. Today let’s talk about what NOT to drink: fruit juice, cow’s milk, soda (regular and diet), sport’s drinks, most Starbucks concoctions. 🤔 Anything you put into your body in liquid form is more quickly absorbed into your bloodstream. Do your health a favor and kick out these drinks: 🍎 Fruit Juice is liquid carbs. Because the fiber of the fruit has been removed, the remaining fructose will cause an unhealthy rise in blood sugar. Think back to your childhood. When you went out to a restaurant and ordered an orange juice, it came in a very small glass – no refills. We didn’t have much juice in the house as a child. My theory is that childhood obesity is on the rise partially because parents think they are making a healthy choice by giving their children fruit juice. 🙁 Serve the teas I posted about yesterday instead! 🥛 Cow’s milk is on the no-no list because it is a combination of fat and liquid carbs. Even skim milk will cause that unwanted spike in blood sugar. Raw cow’s milk is great for growing children, but adults will grow too if you drink it regularly. Try Almond, Cashew, or Coconut Milk (I avoid Soy milk, but that’s a discussion for another day). Go crazy and experiment with kefir – just make sure it doesn’t have added sugar!! 🥤 Regular soda has a shocking amount of sugar, and diet soda is a chemical combination that is very harmful. I still have a weakness for diet soda, but tomorrow I’ll be posting some wonderful alternatives to get that fizzy hit in a healthier way. 🏃 Sports drinks fall into the same category as soda. Sugar and chemicals. Can’t support.
This one hurts… Some of my ❤favorite people❤ are Starbucks Baristas. However, most Starbucks concoctions have a meal’s worth of calories - mostly from sugar. Even their soymilk and almond milk have added sugar. Go for an Americano with heavy cream sweetened with stevia.
